How exact age is calculated
Age calculation sounds simple, but the edge cases are subtle. When the target day is before the birthday day in a given month, we must borrow a month and add the actual days in the preceding month. This is why "1 month" between January 31 and March 1 isn't always the same number of days.
This calculator uses the standard civil method: count whole years first, then whole months in the remaining period, then remaining days. This matches how age is reported on official documents worldwide.

How is age calculated exactly?
Age is counted in whole years from the date of birth to the reference date. A new year begins on the anniversary of the birth date. For example, a person born on March 15, 2000 turns 25 on March 15, 2025 — even if that's a Saturday. The months and days components are calculated from whatever portion of the year remains after subtracting whole years.
What day was I born on?
JavaScript's Date object can calculate the day of the week for any historical date using the Gregorian calendar, which has been in use across most of the world since October 1582 (with later adoption in some countries). How many days until my birthday?
The calculator computes this automatically. It finds the next occurrence of your birthday month and day from the "as of" date, then calculates the difference in days. If your birthday is today, it shows 0 days and notes that it's your birthday. If the birthday has already passed this calendar year, it calculates to next year's date.
